MRF's northern raptors research program is a long-term effort aimed at better understanding the movements of these poorly studied species. The early phases of the program will involve opportunistic banding of the targeted species during winter in southern Quebec and eastern Ontario, which will provide a chance to investigate winter site fidelity in future years, and a chance of recoveries from other locations. A second phase, dependent on funding, would involve the deployment of satellite transmitters on select individuals to track their movements in greater detail, without being dependent on recoveries.
