February 2009 - Studying owls sometimes involves some detective work, including collection and analysis of pellet contents. Every once in a while, a pellet is found partially opened, such as this one with a vole skull and variety of other bones easily visible. However, in this case it is more difficult to tell who the predator was - likely though a Great Horned or Long-eared Owl given the location (Photo by Marcel Gahbauer)
